iPod Nano headphones - numerous replacements?

We have had 3 sets of headphones with an iPod Nano which was a Christmas present, each exchanged by Apple. Now the third set is not working properly and I don't know whether to give up. Has anyone else has problems with these earbuds headphones?

Sorry, not had this problem. Hope you get it sorted - is it definitely a headphone problem or could it be a fault on the ipod connection maybe?

No, definitely headphone problem as each set has had a different fault. Shame because the Apple website is very efficient and sent the replacements within 48 hours.
