Massive issues with Citroen following purchase from main dealer.

I purchased a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 7 weeks ago from a main citroen dealer.

The car is 4.5 years old and came with 3 months warranty. Only it doesn't come with warranty because Citroen tell lies. It only has a 3 month mechanical guarantee that covers the first hundred pounds.

Last week the car developed a fault and the main fuse box needs replacing.

This is how I found out about the useless warranty.

Now, following advice from the lovely people trading standards and citizens advice, I have put into writing about the sale of goods act and consumer rights.

Citroens answer? They will repair the fault if I sign a disclaimer to say that they are not liable for any other faults that occur Shock

They are also trying to bully me into purchasing an extended warranty that is ££££.

Not sure where to go from here but thought I should make others aware.

Hmm funny that. I actually went with my friend when she bought a Citroen from a main dealer and the same thing happened. It was definitely sold as a full warranty (but a year in her case) and ended up being not what we both heard being promised.

Did she have problems too lisaro?

I am furious that they have done this. The lying fuckers Angry

I may have well have bought a car from a private seller and saved on the purchase price because it appears we have no more protection buying from a main dealership.

There was something similar in the Guardian the other day, here

They are twats. I had to go to court to ge my brand new car replaced, after it had developed 3 serious faults within 3 months of purchase

ENormaSnob · 30/04/2012 14:54

What happened orange?

I don't want to let this drop just because they are being so unfair.

I am wary of incurring massive legal fees of it goes that far.

Yes, Enorma - something went wrong a few months later and basically they's screwed her. As it wasn't in the small print as repeadely told to both of us she didn't have a leg to stand on. She only bought it because the warranty made it a better deal than buying privately.

ENormaSnob · 30/04/2012 15:19

Oh thats awful lisaro Sad Your poor friend.

Re the 'warranty' they didn't give me the booklet they should have done so I couldn't even read through anything. It's not something you expect from buying from a main dealer.

People, save your money. Don't buy citroen, especially from a dealership.

I repetedly asked for a replacement, althogh they would do as repair it. Power steering, fuel gage, electric windows all stopped working 3 times in heavy traffic. All the power seemed to go, and the car wouldn't move....entering a roundabout in pissing rain in rush hours. This happened 3 times.

Spent the next few Saturdays, arguing with them, then eventually went to small claims court, an I won. It took 18 months though, and they were total twats throughout the whole thing. The court awarded me replacement car, and compensation, buy even then when I collected it, the tax was due in 2 weeks, and it had no petrol

Thats dreadful orange.

Tbh, the more I hear about citroen, the more I just want rid of the car.

I have no faith in their vehicles and no faith in them as a company.
