Are these worth the money? I have a digital one that can read a temp from under the arm, but can I find it when I need it??!

Have to pop out to buy a new one and thought we might invest in one that boasts a reading in one second.

Speedy opinions please

We have had one for the last five years - I would not be without it!

Its particularly good for taking the childrens temps when they are asleep. I would hate to have to keep waking them when they are poorly.

They are definitely worth the money, I have just got my second one (ds2 stuck the other one in a jammy dodger and it's not been the same since) Found it invaluable with ds1 as he has had febrile convulsions in the past, and am getting plenty of use with it with ds2 at the moment as he has a raging temp and cold. I have the Braun one.

Thanks jmg! That's what I was thinking too.

DH just popped out and could only find another digital one, temp 38.5!!

Which brand do you have? I have only seen the one in Mothercare.

We also have the Braun Thermoscan.

It sounds like you need to get the Calpol out!

Hope they are better soon.

We have the Braun one, excellent, easy to use, fast and accurate. I even take it on holidays with us!

Just found the Braun one on the Boots website. Will pop into town and get one.

Calpol given an hour ago, seems to be doing something as ds is alot cooler and in a short-sleeved body suit now. DH had 24hr bug on Wed and I had it yesterday... never believed in those until this week (thought they were a figment of DH's imagination!)

Thanks again.

We have the Braun one , and their after sales care is fantastic . They replaced the original one we had after using it for 3 years, f.o.c, because it stopped reading, and gave us the top notch one too.

Yep, the Braun one is great - temperature taken before dd has noticed its in her ear! Had a Thermotek one that I bought off ebay first - it was awful, never showed a temp above about 35.

linzoid · 30/11/2003 14:59

I got a boots one but it confuses me a bit. it says on it that normal body temperature is between 35.5 and 38 but i find that when my ds has an obvious temperature it only reads 37.7 or thereabouts and indicates a normal temperature. Comparing it to another themometer i find i'm more acurate with it if i add on a degree.
anyone else had a boots one?

FYI, Found the Braun one on Amazon - £12 less than Boots. But if you want two, Boots are doing buy 1 get 1 half price...
