Car seats

At what age did you stop using car seats and just move to booster seats (or what height / weight if that is more relevant)

My DS is nearly 4 but tall and big for his age he's really outgrown the car seat he's in. Given I drive a Mini, I don't have too many other choices, and am thinking of just putting him in a booster seat as he would be more comfortable...

Can any one link to the correct advice on this please?

WHen I say 'nearly 4' I mean 2 weeks off, so basically 4

my just 4 yr old is in a high backed booster seat as is my 7yr old and 9yr old, i wouldnt use just a booster ie one without a back as they dont offer any side impact or head protection and they are meant to be crap, i am pretty sure i heard they are maybe meant to be stopping them being used.

i have a maxi cosi high backed booster, for my ds4 i forget the name of it but am happy with it :)

oh and its weight some boosters say from 15kg? but ideally you want a child to weigh more than that to go on a booster esp one without a back.

they are too big for their carseat when their eyes are level with the top of the back of the seat, or when they are over the weight limit, this will depend on which carseat you have but i am pretty sure its about 18kg or more for some of them depnding which kind you have, you will need to look up your specific make and model.

its a maxi cosi rodi, this is what my just 4yr old is on (4 in march and also big for his age!) :)

its from 15-36kg and will last till they no longer need a carseat :)
