Why, why, why are toys either pink or blue????

Is anyone else really mad that most toys these days seem to come in pink or blue. I know that colour/gender is not supposed to matter but try telling that to my dd(4) who wonders why all her friends have the pink version of her blue toy - we have ds(2) to pass onto.

I remember when there was just one choice of the toy in a non specific colour, what happened??

Greedy toy manufacturers cashing in on parents like me having to buy 2 of things!!!

I know some of you will think I just shouldn't but dd wants vtech camera for her 5th b'day and of course wants pink. At the moment my ds's favourite colour is also pink but I know when he is old enough to have the camera passed on he will not want pink!!

I have emailed the ELC in disgust at these gender based coloured toys but to no avail. Aaaarg!!!!

Rant over - thanks for listening :)

Pink stinks

Simple - don't shop at ELC. I have a theory that this is why they are failing and closing so many stores. Went there today in a Mothercare and it made me so angry that I left without buying anything!

Pink Stinks takes on ELC

ELC don't have any interest in you passing down a toy rather than buying another one.

She should have pink toys as much as she has other colours though. What's wrong with passing on a pink toy to DS (if it lasts that long!)? My DS is going to inherit a blue scooter, red bike and purple trike from DD. If she has everything blue a bit of pink won't do any harm.

It is annoying though that everything has a pink alternative. ELC is so far removed from what it used to be. What happened to all the lovely wooden toys and craft stuff. It's just blue or pink plastic overpriced tat now.
