The girls range age 3-12 is very strange, some very ugly girls stuff. How many girls do you know that want to wear a worn out looking mustard sweatshirt? And the dresses - yuk!

The women's stuff seems to have an 80's influence that I wore the last time round so maybe that's why I don't like a lot of that.

not seen them, but next have often been a bit hit n miss, quite like the boden kids collection for summer tho and I've never shopped with them, but am thinking about it now!

hockeymum · 21/02/2006 09:01

I was really disappointed with both the girls and boys ranges for 3months to 4years. The girls are all dull or too high fashion, no pretty pink skirts or nice tops and not a single nice simple summer dress (they did lovely gingham floaty ones and fairy ones for the last few years) and the boys stuff seems really chavvy. Bit of a disappointment, might cancel my directory.

Flamesparrow · 21/02/2006 09:12

I'm still quite disturbed by all the pink t-shirts for 4 and 5 year old boys... it just seems odd.

zippitippitoes · 21/02/2006 09:15

I noticed a lot of pink in the boys and of course all the england stuff..I hate lime green hard to wear unless you have the right complexion end up looking like a corpse

Flamesparrow · 21/02/2006 09:18

Oh the bloody England stuff...

Passionflower · 21/02/2006 09:48

Gone right off next over the last three years. Used to be good, is turning into kays catalogue IMO.

misdee · 21/02/2006 10:00

fortunatly dd3 still fits in their newborn range which i have found fine this year. dd1+2 are harder to shop for in there, dd1 choose a lovely summer dress, and i managed to get a 3pack of long sleeves top and a pair of trousers for dd2, but that was hard finding them.

SecondhandRose · 21/02/2006 19:39

Anyone seen the hideous green check dress for a girl? Yeuk.

So who has got the best clothing range this summer for boys and girls? . . .

M&S, Next, Adams, Mothercare, Tu, Mini mode, George, Tesco, Adams, Boden, Monsoon, Debenhams?? - surely someone has got it right? I remember the critisim of the boys ranges last year being very grundgy but then my DS was into toddler so it wasn't too bad but now he is nearly 3 and moving into the older ranges, DD is 5 in the summer but is now in school uniform so I haven't ventured out to buy just yet....

JonesTheSteam · 22/02/2006 08:58

Haven't looked at much boys stuff, but my DD had a lovely outfit from Mothercare for her 5th birthday - pretty pink combat trousers, a cream t-shirt with a picture of a little girl on the front and a pink & cream shrug - it's gorgeous. Don't know what the rest of their stuff is like at the moment though, as I haven't been in.

Asda had some lovely stuff in yesterday - but also some horrible tops - why do people want to dress their 5 year olds like teenagers!!! And I've bought some nice stuff for DS (2) there in the last 3 months.

M&S had some nice stuff yesterday, but also some hideous tops with things like 'Rock Star' on them - why?

Next - agree it's very hit and miss at the moment - I'm struggling to like a single thing in the directory for me or the kids!!!!

some of the Matalan stuff for little girls is very pretty as well. Gorgeous print skirts and nice plain combat trousers in pretty pastel colours.

Passionflower · 22/02/2006 09:48

Will probably be sticking to gypsy skirts, shorts and T-shirts curtesy of boden this year. Not everyones taste I know but DD's love them.

Bozza · 22/02/2006 09:54

Acutally I quite liked some of the girl's stuff. At least a bit of variety in the colours rather than endless pinks and lilacs. Although I doubt I will be getting DD much because I have ordered her some stuff from Vertbaudet and she is the grateful recipient of that much handmedown stuff she really doesn't need much more.

Bit unsure about most of the women's stuff mind you.

SecondhandRose · 22/02/2006 20:11

Matalan have some lovely girls stuff and if like mine your DD fits a 6-7 but is too small for a 7-8 it's ideal.

The store seems to have much nicer range for girls.
