isofix car seats, are they worth it?

hi,
I need to buy a car seat from 9kg. Should I buy an isofix one? They're about double the price.
Are they so much better?

they are the safest on the market.

Yes the Britax ISOFIX car seat was the safest car seat that which tested in June 2005 and the one the recommend (not as good when strapped in with a seat belt tho)

If you are in a big car crash would you not want your child to be in the safest seat?
If you were in a car crash, had chosen a non isofix seat cause they were cheaper, could you with yourself if your child was injured in the accident?... for the sake of £100?

I have always thought that they were just for modren cars with fittings.
Can you put them in any car? (Just withe belt?)

I always thought it needed a special something already in hte car.

they can be used in older cars with belts, but not as safe as using the isofix points.

dd2 may get mobility(doubt it, but stranger things have happened), if so i'll be getting the safest 7seater with isofix. i just wish they'd put more than 2 seats in the back with the anchoring points. dd1+2 have jane isofix seats, dd3 in the middle has a normal eclipse.

would you go for britax duo plus isofix or the maxi-cosi priori fix?
I'm not sure it was out in june 2005 so maybe it was not reviewed.
I heard good things about maxi-cosi seats in general (easy to install etc)

Maxi Cosi isofix seats are very recent. Usually those models as non-isofix are as good as the Britax ones .

We had the Britax Duo with isofix and were really pleased with it.

I have a jane booster seat with isofix fixing - it stays in place and seems really secure - was expensive though, but DD is worth it!

here in Aus - the isofix are the only legal ones until they are 14kg or more - possibly in booster seat instead of car seat as such.

britax isofix
