How snug should the elastic on ballet shoes be?

dd (3) has her first ballet shoes. This is very exciting for her but has somehow turned into a complete faff for me - due to dd wriggling while I was trying to work out the elastic tension I think they I've sewn them on a little too loose. The elastic is not snug against her foot. Do I need to unpick one end and resew? I didn't want the elastic to dig in to her foot and fear I have swung too far the other way.
I have wine to drink and mindless tv to watch, can I do that instead?

I would only resew if they threaten to fall off.

Elastic needs to be snug but not too tight. Make sure draw-string tie at front adjusted first. Lots of Youtube videos available on how to do this. Enjoy your Wine!!

For future ref, it is poss to buy shoes now with elastic already sewn on ...

here for example

I combined wine and sewing! Hurrah! They seem good now and enhanced I think by the blood spots Wink thanks for your advice!

Yes indeed, blood spots = proven motherly dedication Wink

Hope your little girl enjoys her class!
