Slow cooker - which one?

I would really like a slow cooker for my birthday but have no idea about defining features. What should I look for? Good/bad experiences with any brands? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

I've got a cusinart one - really big so feeds 4+. It is brilliant as it has a hold feature, so if you are late home it keeps the food warm. Bear in mind you can only ever half fill them - when you are looking at the size. Hope this helps.
