I have a Neff self-cleaning oven althoguh i think that the self cleaning is extremely misleading. Anyway, if I use something like Oven Bright on it will it just mean that it will no longer be self cleaning or will it actually damage the oven?

Anyone know please?

Don't know, but I'm quite sceptical about self cleaning ovens, having eventually given in and paid some bloke from OvenU a huge sum of money to clean mine!!

It may damage the self-cleaning part. Is yours the sort where you put a bowl of water in the oven, turn it on very high, and then wipe down when it's cool?

sort of. I put water mixed with a tad of washing up liquid on the base of the oven, turn on the 'self-cleaning' button, wait for about 20 mins for it to steam etc then wipe it all away.

So what bits don't self-clean? AFAIK, it's only ever the sides, top, bottom and back that self-clean (and not always all of them). The door and shelves don't self-clean, and cleaning products should be fine on them.

I have a self clean but I don't know how it works.

...so I guess I'll never need the self clean bit!

No seriously I really don't know how the self clean bit works, really ought to find out!

well, it's done now so if it buggers up the oven, I'll have learnt the lesson the hard way!! I've covered the insides with oven bright and we'll just have to see what happens in the morning. I'm praying it will be sparkling like new .

Did it work OK - I'd love to know as my self-cleaning oven needs cleaning!
