New iron needed - any recommendations?

My iron gave up on me yestyerday so I need a new one. I don't know anything about the steam generator ones and they seem incredibly expensive. Are they worth the money?

I don't like light or heavy irons and I need loads of steam. We also live in a very hard water area so I need to be able to de-scale it easily. Apart from all that I am quite easy to please!

steam generator is so worth the money - its almost a pleasure to iron. Things just need doing on one side, even folded up the whole lot gets don in one pass of the iron

Jools bought a cordless steam generator one for ooodles of money and thought it was rubbish - she took it back.

I need a new one too so will watch with interest!
