Cream to stop/reduce scarring - do you know it?

DS has had chickenpox and is covered in spots. I've got scars on my face from when I picked mine as a child and really don't want him to end up with marks on him if I can avoid it. I went to Boots today to ask for a cream that will reduce scarring, as I'm sure I remember reading about a vitamin cream which will help, but the pharmacist was fairly useless and just kept saying use calamine and piriton - even though I explained we were passed that stage. Does anyone know of such a cream please?

Vitamin E cream. You can also use pure Vit E from capsules - just use a pin to burst ans squeeze out oil. You could also add some lavender oil which is healing.

There is also a great gel called Dermatix but it is expensive.

My BIL was in a car accident and cut his face and ende up with 100 stitches - used Vit E cream and you can't tell.

Vit E oil is the same as Wheatgerm oil (in a bottle)

Can't you get "plasters" or dressings which reduce scarring

Bio Oil is recommended for scarring.
You can buy it in the health food shop for approx £8.00.
Ive just bought some to prevent stretch marks

there is some evidence that pure aloe vera gel helps reduce scarring too, I think - certainly tried it on my ds after chicken pox and I think it helped - but who knows??

Surgeon who removed my varicose veins a month or tweo ago told me to rub Aloe Vera or Vit E cream into the scars.
I have pure Vit E oil that am applying religiously.

Wouldn't worry too much-children's skin generally healslike magic.

I have used Bio-oil and it has worked a treat!

I had an eye op and the surgeon told me to take arnica prior to op for 2 weeks and 2 weeks after and to rub on vit e cream for one month after. I just did the vit e cream and no scars!!!!! You cold use the oil.

The only thing i know professionally is Mepitel dressings. I don't know if you can buy them, although it is worth a look in the dressings section of boots or your chemist. Needs to be worn for a prolonged period though IIRC and so probably not suitable for the face.
