Ikea Croydon - building work warning!

Just in case anyone was contemplating going before the end of March (!) the restaurant is shut and the ball room and tv room have gone.

We went the other day to shop and eat meatballs and chips only to find the front of the building was a gaping hole. There is a cafe in what was the garden centre/outdoor furniture place but it had 4? tables and 2 highchairs and was open to the elements. They sold meatballs and mashed potato in plastic trays - pretty grim. It was busy and it was Tuesday afternoon.

Still managed to spend a fortune but it wasn't quite the fun day out we'd planned.

Whaaaat! Was going tomorrow and planned on a quiet shop, leaving ds in the ballpit. Great.

Drove past there yesterday, glad I didn't go in really. Surely its a bit stupid to do it around Xmas time. Was planning on getting some bits and bobs.

Not sure about restaurant, but ball room is still there and open (though it has moved). Still near the main entrance on ground floor.

I hadn't thought that they had closed their restaurant, and that the bit out front was an extra, but could be wrong - can't remember what was upstairs when I went (and yesterday I was just dashing round the marketplace for the 35p mugs so ds1 could try his hand at mug painting!)

the cafe is still open- mind you the sandwiches are rubbish. can also verify that ballroom is open, service still appalling!!
