We're put off ground source by the trashing of the garden, but are now considering air source as an alternative - anyone got any experience of either?

Ground source HPs are getting quite common up here in Cumbria. Have you applied for your grant?

Anteater, do you know how much area you need for a ground source HP? I'm interested in doing it, but can't find any useful calcs anywhere, and our urban garden may well be too small.

have a long look at this website

The area of ground required for your coils will depend on how much energy you are looking to extract, ie how big is the area you are looking to heat.
1 in 6 swiss houses has a heat pump.
