Which Kindle have you got and why do you love it?

I'm thinking about getting DD one for her birthday but don't know which one.

Mine is the 3G keyboard one. I adore it. Passionately. But I don't often use the 3G and/or the keyboard bit. So would one of the cheaper simpler ones do?

Which would you recommend? DD will be 16.

and is it then possible for her to read the books I have on mine? would i need to register it to my email?

You can have more than one kindle on your amazon account - then you can share all of your books. A friend of mine has done this with her sister. Great idea if you have an overlap in taste Smile

I've got the "4", the non-keyboard, non-3G one. I download books at home and if I go on holiday it will be somewhere with Wi-Fi, anyway. I love the fact that my Kindle is so small and compact.

I would recommend the "4" for your DD as it's so small.

You can register up to 6, I think, Kindles to the same account. Just make sure she doesn't download anything without your say-so and also, realise that she will be able to see all the books that you have downloaded!

I cannot believe how much I love my Kindle. I was very much a book person and never thought I would love something that didn't involve turning pages like a tree book.

Think it depends on what your DD wants to use it for. I have 3 wifi and I love it. I read on it all the time but I also listen to audio books on it too.

I have the one without the keyboard. As I just want it as a book, I don't ever wish I had the 3G or keyboard as I buy on the computer so just turn on wifi to download on the Kindle.

If you think your daughter will just want to read on it then it's ideal.

DH on the other hand thinks it's crap because it's not in colour with a touch screen, but then he would prefer to read cycling magazines where the text is not the main reason for buying ...

Tested the touch kindle today and I hate much prefer the keyboard one, I have the keyboard one with just wifi!

sabbby82 · 30/04/2012 19:26

I've got the simple wifi with no keyboard and it's perfect. I love it and use it constantly. I download off kindle or on computer. Great birthday present from DH.

I've just ordered a free Touch from Tesco. I knew those club card vouchers would come in handy :)

I currently use the Kindle app on my iPad and iPhone. It's great that I can read the same book on all of them so I"m never without a book. The iPad is perfect for reading in the dark.

Mine's the 3G keyboard one with the light. Great for downloading abroad and reading when I can't sleep, but dh is asleep.

I've had the non 3G kindle touch since it was released and I love it. Was put off getting one before because I wanted a touch screen and I didn't like the navigation button on the previous model
