Which antivirus package should I go for?

My Norton that came with the pc has expired, but before I part with the necessary cash to update it, I thought perhaps I should shop around?

So which is the best antivirus software in your expert opinions?

I am happy with zone alarm on our family one but sophos on my work laptop seems very unobtrusive. Don't know how the costs compare.

Rhubarb · 01/02/2006 13:24

Never heard of either of those! Has anything gotten through before?

I have McAfee - used to have Norton, but think McAfee was slightly cheaper.

Wasn't aware ZoneAlarm did antivirus, but have used it as a firewall before now. My McAfee has a firewall now though.

Hmmm, it's complicated, both Norton and McAfee have different packages for Firewalls, you have to buy them separately from the antivirus packages. Isn't there an all-in-one that doesn't cost the earth? Seems like a big rip off to me!

Zone Alarm is my antivirus, firewall, spam and pop up blocker. Nothing has got through- look on this website
zone alarm

you can have a simple firewall for free.
sophos is big in education here.

It appears to be an American site, I want to pay for it in euros but don't think I can.

I paid on a credit card in dollars and it just got converted.

I don't think Zonealarm free version has antivirus, but AVG does and is the business. All for £0

Rhubarb · 01/02/2006 20:13

Just downloaded it - thanks Tamum!

I use AVG for antivirus and Zonealarm for the firewall
