My niece and god-daughter will be 1 year old at the end of Feb. She's half french and lives in Paris. I need something lovely that won't weigh a ton to post and won't break the bank. I've previously given her glove puppets and a christening bracelet. Any ideas?

A book? Is she bi-lingual? Get her a lovely French or English book, one she can keep.

you could get her some nice english books, amazon is great for presents for nephews/nieces abroad!

A CD of songs in English.

clothes ? DD just turned 1 and got loads of clothes which, as it was close-ish to christmas made a nice change to toys. Or, a set of soft skittles- dd has two now and loves them. They will lasta while too i would think.

Nice soft first doll such as a Maggies Raggie or soft activity books or simple lift out puzzles/shapes

Cheers for these. Some great ideas here - forgot to mention I'd allready done books and english nursery rhyme cds for her elder brother so I was hoping for something else - bizarrely they sent us skittles for Christmas, but I love the idea of a soft doll. Maggie Raggie looks lovely - obvious really, but it hadn't occured to me! Thanks.
