Environmentally friendly 4x4

Looking at new cars. I've decided to go for a 4x4 on the basis that I live on the top of a hill and get stuck in bad weather. I also think it will be handy to have a 4x4 when we go camping. I'll keep it forever (current car is 10 years old) so I'm happy to buy new. Can anyone recommend a vaguely environmentally friendly 4x4?

Nissan Qashqai is quite friendly because it is made in this country so parts aren't shipped all over the world. It has a low carbon footprint. the 4x4 version is quite expensive though.

Skoda Yeti diesel is another possibility or the Octavia 4x4 estate. If you don't need a big 4x4 you could go for an A3 or A4 quattro, these would have a smaller environmental impact.
