Ford Focus ST

I love my ST, it rumbles beautifully and really performs if you want it to, although I'm really quite a cautious driver, often have the kids with me.

Anyway, the on board computer says I'm getting only 19.8 mpg!!!!! Are these things often inaccurate? If it's true I should really look for something more economical, but I'd miss the punchiness of the engine. Can anyone suggest a good alternative?

Ford Focus RS?
Hvave you tried monitoring the MPG manually?
We get about 25 MPG ot of ours on short town journeys and over 30 on motorway runs!!!

It's an '06 ST, not as nippy as an RS. Haven't tried manually monitoring but think I need to give that a go, thanks.

I've got a Fiesta ST. I'd say 19-22 is about my average. I have read 13mpg - enthusiastic driving :) I find the number of drive tyres it goes through a nightmare. I replace them every year!

Sorry we have 56 ST not an RS - would love one though!

Yeah the RS looks brilliant, but I can't imagine it's any more economical. Just checked the ford focus st forum and 19mpg seems about average for town driving.

Stargirl, don't get me started on tyres!!
