Talk to me about Freesat

I (hope) am moving in March. I currently have virgin TV and talk talk phone and broadband (rubbish will be pleased to ditch it). Perfectly happy with Virgin TV and had intended to switch broadband to them on move... but...

new house I have discovered has a satellite dish with two cables coming out of it so presumably suitable for freesat+ (recording two different channels or watching one channel and recording another like virgin). The temptation to just buy a freesat box at a one off cost of £200 then sign up for cheap phone and broadband with someone like Plusnet is big and would save me £20-30 per month so box purchase would pay back within a year.

Would presumably lose all programmes saved on virgin box.

Who has freesat - would you recommend it?

Yes, I'd recommend it. More than enough for me to watch. Make sure you get one that you can record the progs.

You don't need a satellite dish for FreeSat.
We haven't got one anyway.

Yes would be getting the recordable pausable one. I'm sure Freesat needs a Satellite dish unlike Freeview though tbh I'm not totally sure what the difference is - but I live under the flight path and can get interference with an ordinary aerial (hence switch to virgin) I think satellite reception might be better...
