Apart from making my own, where are the best/cheapest places to buy curtains? I have been into John Lewis and have come home and done some window shopping on ebay, but wondered if there was any MN advice out there before I buy.

If you have a Dunelm near you they are great. They do ready made and made to measure.

I buy second hand ones...you get amazing quality for a fraction of the price if you know what you are looking for. I can't cope with the THOUGHT of paying hundreds for curtains and yet hate the look of the cheap and nasty kind.

I have Laura Ashley, Designers Guild and a some vintage Heals ones in addition to some excellent thick beige velvet ones (real cotton velvet...not that nasty stuff)

I found some on Ebay and some in Charity shops....I have also bought vintage pairs which were that famous brand which I cannot recall for the life of me and then sold them on Ebay for a vast (ish) sum!

I love curtains!

We got some from Dunelm Mills recently - good choice esp if you want matching bed stuff, not sure about the 'cheap'. Its probably worth looking in TK Maxx and Argos (I've not bought from them myself but that's where I'd look)

Thank you! A friend also said Dunelm Mills and there is one near me so will have to check it out. I have looked on ebay but too many to choose from! Sometimes I get overwhelmed with the choice and then can see the wood for the trees if you know what i mean.

I am planning a massive charity shop trawl on Wednesday so will see what gems I can find!

There is also a TKMaxx home stpors near me so I will check that out too...

If you find any curtains ask if they have any more...sometimes they keep them in the back as they take up a lot of space.

managed to get 1 pair from a charity shop - its a start!
