How do I clean a white polyester puffa jacket?

Says dry clean only inside it - and the dry cleaners wanted £20 to clean it!
Is grubby all over particularly collar - grimy with make up. Can't do it in w/mc I presume as down feathers inside it.

well if it was me id stick it the washing machine regardless and hope!

id do it on a gentle cycle (hand wash if you have it!) or else wash as wool where the spin speed is slower etc!

Run a Vanish stick or stain remover gel over the collar and then wash on a 30o cycle with a tennis ball !

tennis ball??

Bashing of tennis ball helps re-fluff the filling. Have only used it in the dryer though, not the washing machine.

Personally I'd pay the £20 and buy a black one next time.

would the yellow colour of a tennis ball not run?

I wash mine and it is a dry clean one only as well (from Next). I put it in a 30 degree woolens wash, then put it on a hanger near a radiator to dry. It's pretty flat at first but after 5 minutes of wearing it puffs back out. I bought mine in the sale so I wasn't prepared to spend a lot on having it dry cleaned. I've washed it over and over again and it's been fine.

I was told to put tennis balls in the tumble dryer or if I didn't have one to hang dry and then hit with a tennis racquet!!!

My latest one actually came with its own special washing "tennis" ball in coordinating bag ! Yes it pounds the filling so it is less likely to clog up and the action helps to get the dirt out. tbh you could probably use an empty washing ball and get the same effect in the wm . Perhaps try soaking the ball in water first to see if it would run ?

ooh- thanks - all great ideas. I got my jacket from TK Maxx and it was reduced from £100 down to £15 (I think) and its the only ever puffa jacket that I have put on that hasn't made me look like a Michelin man - so am v. fond of it.
