Hair Straigteners question

I have just got mine ... and they seem to be OK, but I was wondering what product should I put on my hair when using them?
I don't particularly have frizzy hair... just that awful "bed head" look I worry that if I use these directly onto my hair without using a serum/mousse my hair might get damaged and dried out ... any hints please ?

I have some GHD straightners and my BIL (whose a hairdresser) insisted I use their 'iron oil' each time to protect the hair from drying out....I buy it from my hairdressers.

Thanks MG ... I'll go and have a look

Talking of bed head ... my window cleaner has just come to collect his money ... bet he was REALLY impressed with my shaggy locks
