What face products do you swear by now that you're in your thirties?

I'm 33 and I use a moisturiser every morning plus a foundation with SPF15 when I'm going to work.

I need to rethink what products I'm using now I'm well into my thirties. Have been into both Selfridges and Space NK today and bought some new make-up (from much younger women with perfect complexions grrr).

Just wondering what face creams you think are marvellous. Do you use a night cream and do you see a difference?

Only use cleanser atm but have noticed some lines around my eyes and really haven't a clue about these sort of things so any advice I would be grateful for with regard to anti-wrinkle creams etc that are not too expensive.

according to beauty bible writers Olay products are pretty good presently, my sis did a PR thing with one of them.

  • hour cream always gets good reviews.

TBH I think the more important aspect is what you put into your system - in terms of plenty of water, less caffiene/alcohol, plenty of anti-oxidants, fresh fruit and veg. etc etc etc. If there is a magical elixir for youthful skin out there (at a reasonable price) would love to know about it.

crazydazy · 19/01/2006 20:45

Can't believe the time has come that I have to even think of such things - am almost 34 though

Will have a look at Olay then.

Try to drink water - don't like taste so only manage about 3 glasses a day.

Not keen on fruit and veg either but try and eat either one or both each day.

No wonder I look like an old bag

Well, my thirties are sadly but a distant memory - but my face is still reasonably unlined. I reckon the best gift you can give your face is to keep it out of strong sunlight; wear a hat in summer and use SPF moisturers all year round. I read somewhere that the sun causes the vast majority of skin aging and I think it's true.

Dermatologists say face creams won't do anything magical except temporarily plump up your skin. Only thing that 'works' for wrinkles is retinol which is in some creams. I use Roc's.

mogwai · 19/01/2006 21:03

yes, I've been using a cream with retinol for about 7 years on the recommendation of a friend who was a detmatologist. I use the L'Oreal active range, it's not expensive, about £8-9 a jar.

Just wondering about putting something on at night and/or under my eyes. I used a pure retinol cream uncer my eyes a few years back but it made them really dry and itchy.

I eat fruit/veg until it's coming out of my ears and drink decaff coffee but I don;t drink much water. It's soooo bland

Clrains products are nice and nivea q10 line eye cream is very good too.

Oil of Olay Regenerist Serum.

I use it every night around my eyes, on my forehead and on my neck.

Brilliant stuff.
