DH spent ages over Christmas decorating our bedroom including painting our new built in wardrobes with satinwood (useless stuff I think).

Less than a month later the doors are already adorned with DS' artwork, smearings and marks left from "hammering like Daddy does".

DH not keen on gloss for wardrobes - would eggshell be best?

And any recommendations for good wipeable emulsion too?

get a damp cloth, put some toothpaste on it and gently rub the marks,it gets rid of biro, crayon and smudges.sounds daft, but honestly it works!!

Thanks stephanie21 I will try that in a minute!

The satinwood is rubbish it looks almost like emulsion in consistency.

B&Q stock quite a few wipeable emulsion paints - we wanted a non-gloss, non-vinyl (i.e. matt finish!) paint for DD's dollshouse & found several washable matt paint ranges in there to choose from. We used 2 different brands & they were both fine.

Dulux do a paint called Diamond matt. It's not just washable its scrubable. it's more expensice than their normal matt but its worth it. we've used it in our hallway and it still looks good a year on. DD's handprints and scribbles etc I;ve been able to remove them all and the hall's looked as good as new.

Stephanie's tip worked well on the emulsion, but not really on the satinwood.

So, I still need to know about the eggshell.

Can you get tester pots of eggshell?
