Something for nipples

Someone recently mentioned a product for cracked nipples, I think something that you painted over the crack rather than a soothing cream, but I can't find the thread. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? If you do, please tell me what it is and where I can get it!

Thanks

Would it be Gentian Violet?

codswallop · 14/11/2003 18:38

Not Lansinoh?

Jelonet ?

Friars Balsam?

Jelonet - excellent, thank you pie!

My 10m dd has had a nasty tummy bug and has been almost permanently attached at the boob for the last 3-4 days...it's like having a newborn again, only much heavier. Lansinoh just doesn't come near soothing my poor bits this time.

How do I use it???? It's so rigid, my nips don't seem to be the right shape - they poke out too much!

I used pure vitamin e oil. It's really thick and tasteless. It really helped.

I think I've worked it out - I peeled the greasy gauzy stuff away from both stiff backing sheets.

SA, is there no risk to the baby from ingesting too much vit E? I've used the stuff in the past, for other parts obviously, but hadn't thought to use it on my boobs.

Anyway dd is starting to eat again, so the pressure's off, thank goodness

Not sure if this has been said before but my midwife always told me that the best thing was to rub a little breastmilk over them. HTH. x
