saw one yesterday in solid oak. Has anyone any opinions on their dining furniture?

Well, I'm not posting you one, that's for sure.

polly28 · 13/01/2006 16:55

we bought a table there, can't remember the name, but it's a massive oak veneer one.we're really pleased with it as it extends long enough to feed an army

marthamoo · 13/01/2006 16:55

8 out of 10 babies born in Europe were conceived on an Ikea dining table, you know?

sparklymieow · 13/01/2006 16:56

dunno, but I want this one

daisy1999 · 13/01/2006 16:57

sd - I was hoping you'd take the hint!! I finally made a visit yesterday for the first time in about 2 years!

We have an extending solid beech table from Ikea, looks nice, extends easily, easy to look after - very pleased with it.

daisy1999 · 13/01/2006 17:02

Are they "good" enough to be in dining room (not a posh one) as opposed to a kitchen?

OP posts:
polly28 · 13/01/2006 17:10

yes they are good enough for a dining room.

daisy1999 · 13/01/2006 17:11

I have that one. It's brilliant.

14 of us sat around it at Christmas. It looks lovely in any room, dining room or kitchen.

Very hard wearing. It survives dancing twins, tantrumming teens, 7 yo bashers and bangers. Lovely!

All my dinner guests want one. Very cheap for what it is.

daisy1999 · 13/01/2006 17:22

did you get chairs at ikea aswell Mars?

OP posts:
MarsOnLife · 13/01/2006 17:27

yup! Lovely! and stools, which stack underneath the table really nicely.

I have a massive Ikea dining table in solid beech. It was marked down from £160 to £115 when I bought it because it had a mark on it. By the time I assembled it the mark had gone, must have rubbed off on my hands or something

I love my table.

anorak · 13/01/2006 18:07

this is mine.

As you can see it has been lowered in price since I bought mine.

sparklymieow · 13/01/2006 18:07

I ahve a glass table atm, and I hate it, the kids keep climbing on it, and my heart goes into my throat.

MarsOnLife · 13/01/2006 18:16

I was wrong. It's the Norden one that I have (must get more sleep!). It's lovely.

I bought mine second hand from a woman who bought it and decided that it was too big for her. I got it for £60.

This is the table that was reduced to £35 on opening day at the new Edmonton store. The one where the people rioted!

sparklymieow · 13/01/2006 18:17

Its the Norden one I want too...lol

lunachic · 13/01/2006 18:43

i come from a place called norden so ive always fancied thar table too
got a kids table and chairs and its been great best to get a joiner to glue any flatpack from ikea and then it stays together (hopefully)

daisy1999 · 13/01/2006 18:52

what chairs does everyone have with their ikea tables?

OP posts:
Jbck · 14/01/2006 13:42

I've got these in a lighter stain. We did have 6 but DH managed to break one. The wood is quite soft so I don't know how long lasting they'd be in a big family. They don't do my table now, I've had it for about 6 years & it still looks really good, similar to this one but extending & sits 10 comfortably, looks better than the chairs do & they're the same age.

helsi · 14/01/2006 13:45

we got an extendable one from the bargain basement. RRP £299 but it was £99 and all because it had a tiny chip on one corner (can't even see it TBH). It extends to allow at least 12 people around it. I got some brown leaher seats with legs that match the wood from The Range in Hunslet near Leeds - they cost more than the table as they were full price at £79 each and I bought 6.

jalopy · 14/01/2006 14:03

marthamoo, do you mean an ikea bed?

edodgy · 14/01/2006 14:06

we have this one and the same chairs as jbck.

NannyL · 14/01/2006 16:06
