I used their previous glueable version in DS1s nursery 7 years ago. It was fine and seemed to be OK. I would definitely recommend laying it over the proper underlay though, not carpet etc as it says you can.

It mopped up a treat after various vomitting episodes too

misdee · 13/01/2006 16:03

yes but mieow the really expensive stuff that your dh wants is lovely

SoupDragon · 13/01/2006 16:18

If the "expensive stuff" is the one with the grooved edges to make it look like real wood - wouldn't the grooves collect all sorts of dust and muck?

magnolia1 · 13/01/2006 16:48

Ooooooh I might get that too :-) We have really crappy thin carpet down so might lay it on top. Not ideal but great on a tight budget

sparklymieow · 13/01/2006 16:51

The expensive stuff is proper wood flooring from homebase, its 15 pounds per/sq2 and for the living room would cost me 240!!!!

Our front room is huge so we really could not afford expensive stuff

If you do get the Ikea ones, post what its like so I can persuade hubby to get it

sparklymieow · 13/01/2006 17:00

our living room is only 10ft7 by 16ft11, so the ikea one is only about 60 pounds.

We got the Ikea flooring in the summer and we put it in the lounge, dining room and hall. DH says it was easy to fit and it's excellent value for money - we have 2 ds's and 3 large dogs and I've yet to find a scratch on it

Have you tried your local timber yard? We have just floored a massive area with real wood flooring from the timber yard and it really wasn't all that bad (although I can't remember the price per sq m). There are also people selling real wood flooring on e-Bay, might be worth a look?

well im sure they had that at the front of the store with a sign saying X,000 people walk over this every week etc!
