Classic-ish teddy bears ?

dd about to turn 1 and got most of the typical 1 year old pressies for Christmas and those left, grandparents are buying for her birthday so I thought we could buy her a really nice teddy bear - naively went to look at Steiff to find they were somewhat above our budget and not really for children.

So... any ideas (or if there's any other ideas for first birthday pressies) ?

is that the bobby bear ? That was one option - I guess budget would be £30-40

There is a company called Jellycat who do rather lovely creatures. Available in most upmarkety toy shops.

Alternatively Hamleys ?

For a first birthday present I rather liked those translucent building blocks with kalescopy things inside -- hard to describe, but most of the catalogues seem to have them.

let me go check the name tags on dd3 latest white fluffy one.

Agree peekablocks are fab - but they were received for christmas !! Thanks for the jelly cat idea too frogs.

cosy friends

dd3 is the xmas one, and white, it wont be white for long lol.

i have booked dd1 birthday which is 2 weeks after serenas, should i make it a double party?

I would second frogs suggestion of jellycat. My two still sleep with their jellycat toys (one is a dragon and one is a cat type thing) years later. They are lovely soft toys.

tassis · 12/01/2006 19:30

I was going to suggest Jellycat too - they're gorgeous and very reasonably priced. So cuddly too! Like foxinsocks' LOs, ds is sleeping with his jellycat monkey right now.

Or Bear Factory do some pretty nice ones too...

Hazellnut · 12/01/2006 19:53

thanks all - will take a look at all the suggestions.

Misdee, if dd1 doesn't mind I am sure dd3 won't mind if she shares !!
