Hair Straighteners ... iron/heat protection oil question ...

... maybe this is a question for the style board but as there have been lots of threads here recently re straighteners, I'll just keep on typing!

I've recently got the GHD straighteners & iron oil - the booklet says apply the oil to dry hair before using the irons but the bottle says to use on wet (?damp) or dry hair before styling. So do I blowdry first then use the oil just as I straighten or do I use it on damp/half dry hair, finish blowdrying and then straighten? If I put it on completely dry hair it really sizzles and I'm expecting it to turn to frizz soon.

TIA

i personally wash my hair blow dry it then i spray but only a small amount, then iron it. i find it works quicker and you get a better finish. ironing on wet/damp hair seems to take for ever

but saying that if your hair is sizzling maybe you should do it with damp hair. can you turn your irons to differant settings? maybe you have it up to high

Thanks Perfumelady ... irons only have one setting but I'm beginning to think that maybe practice will make perfect - and that my layers are just making life awkward!!
