FLOAM..Anyone's children tried this?

Dd has seen it advertised on tv and wants some. I'm not sure quite what to make of it - looks sort of weird but could be fun. Anyone tried this at all?

I've found this very American site which explains what it is (sorry, it's a bit full-on like American adverts often are), but you can buy it here too apparantly.

I've got a feeling I might just find her little brother or sister 'floamed' if they don't watch out though!

Haven't tried it, but the dd's are obsessed with the advert! I will be watching to see what the general opinion is - seems expensive to me!

it looks bizarre and it's just the sort of stuff I can see DD having prescisely 7 minutes of fun from beofre forgetting she has it (despite begging and pleading for it beforehand). It also looks like the kind of thing that would make a real mess of stuff. Very expensive too.

Yes, that worries me too. It looks ok on the ad, but in reality, do you just end up trying to chip off bits of floam from the stereo or the cat?

Oh I had some of this stuff!

It came in a girlzz gang or friends gang or something like that set rom Asda and Tescos, which was a set of drawers to make and they sent a bunch of this stuff to put on the handles to make them bigger.

It is quite fun - its really squidgy. Basically all it is is tiny tiny polystyrene balls bonded together in a pliable gluey playdoh type substance. It dries out in a few hours.

I think like Playdoh it'll all mix up if you squish it together so after a few plays it will be camoflage green and a bit revolting looking. However it would be fun for rainy weekends if your kids are the crafty type to sit and play with it.

I guess they are just marketting it as a kind of cool playdoh for bigger kids and it will be one of those flash in the pan things that we forget about by the summer and will be relaunched in 10 years time under another name! So totally up to you whether you think it is worth the cash.
