I don't know what the 40 x high speed means.I would buy the one with the highest MB as the higher the MB the more photos you can store.

I think but not 100% it is the speed to which the images are download on to your pc.

i have a 5.0 mega pixel camera and a 256mg card and can get 200 photos on it if that helps!

you should get at least 400 pics on a 512!
