Which is the SAFEST car seat then?

After reading Misdee's threda about car seats, i was horrified to find that ours has one of the lowest ratings (we only just got it). Can't beleive we didn't research it first, we usually do!
I can't find the Which report so does anyone know, which ones are classed as the safest, best?

I think one was the Concorde lift protect.

any help?

SnowmAngeliz · 10/01/2006 10:05

thanks Misdee.
Yes that's what i thought, the Concorde gets highest score but the Maxi Cosi gets more stars. Will save that and get her a new one we decide on at the weekend.
We actually have one on the NOT recomended list and DP is so annoyed that he's gonna try to get a refund as he beleives they shouldn't be seeling them!

Glad for your original thread or i wouldn't have known!

Hope your dd is o.k, mine are just recovering from chickne pox too!

i am annoyed as well, as we have bought 3 eats of the do not buy list (graco junior i think it was, and the britax cruiser). i have just spent an obscene amount of 2 jane isofix seats and a maxi-cosi rodi. am still recovering from that. it hurt my bankl balence.

SnowmAngeliz · 10/01/2006 10:08

Yes, that's the one we have for dd, she loves it as she has a space for a drink but when i read your thread i was shocked!
It is a disgrace!

Are you going to try and get a refund?

but they meetthe minimum safety standard, although thats not good enough in my eyes. i think my thread has prompted more people to buy new seats. maybe i should work on comission

misdee · 10/01/2006 10:12

on phone to britax now

SnowmAngeliz · 10/01/2006 10:15

Oh let me know!

basically she just reguritated the stuff which which? had stated as britaxs statement. 'meets current safety standards, wouldnt sell anything doest meet safety, its a perfectly good seat' blah blah.

i guess as long as the seats meet the basic standard there is nothing much we can do, but be out of pocket.

gossifer · 10/01/2006 10:19

can someone direct me to misdees' thread about carseats, all worried now!

misdee · 10/01/2006 10:19

follow the link on this thread for the latest which? report.

SnowmAngeliz · 10/01/2006 10:20

Oh Misdee that is annoying.

Thanks for this thread guys - v. timely as Angeliz knows - am off to look at car seats ! Was thinking Maxi Cosi Priori xp but may well go for the m&p seat now (as this too will fulfil dh's requirement of matching the car seats but with the added bonus of being safer ! Sad - oh yes...)

Gillian76 · 10/01/2006 10:27

We were told by the lady in Mothercare that the new version of the Graco is better and has more SP. We bought it for DD2.
