Cars - does anyone have either a Verso, Scenic, Touran, Mazda 5 or Focus C Max?

And what do you think of them?

Dh is due a new company car soon and is looking (probably) at either the VW Touran or a Scenic - he would prefer the Grand Scenic but with the emissions policy he might have to stick with the standard one. He's also been musing over the Verso, Mazda 5 or Focus C Max.

He's got to try and narrow his choice down before we think about getting some test drives, so would be interested to hear your thoughts on recent models of these cars. We had a look at the Verso today and it seems really claustrophobic inside - is it really as bad as it seemed in the showroom? And what about the spare wheel problem on the Touran?

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

It felt slightly darker inside than the Scenic but not so dark as the Verso felt. I wouldn't have said that the Touran's plastics were particularly crappy ... not so nice as the Passat's interior but looked OK to me.

I have to agree with Bear ... all very sad. I do hope one of them isn't my dh ...

is that "Piss Off" = I don't believe you, or "Piss Off"= piss off. Don't mind which (except if it's the former, sorry if I upset you), just want to know

Enid, they do ... the site's a bit like BabyWorld but for cars instead of babies.

Mountain Buggy Terrain, Navy Blue, Matching Carrycot (upgraded Mothercare mattress, radical yellow fitted sheets), Water / Wind / Sun ready (original accesories). Running at 15psi. E3 Killer on the muddy stuff. Oh, and JoJo Maman Bébé parasol, slightly frilly, which just totally f*cks up my cred.

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 23/01/2006 14:05

I dunno - it shows you're your own man, not just one of the flock. You do it your way, if you want frilly, you do frilly. Navy w/yellow f/sheets - very stylish colourway. What kind of pump do you use to achieve your 15psi - forecourt, stand-up or regular cycle pump affair?

hub2dee · 23/01/2006 14:10

Yeah, blue and white was too contrasty, considering the silver aly frame and black placcy detailing. I use a floor-standing road bicycle pump, when I can find it... when I can't I use the titchy one that came free with the mean machine. It also undermines my cred, so I keep it under the sofa.

lol! BiBBH it was an incredulous Piss off! not a dismissive one

hana · 23/01/2006 17:40

thanks for htat Enid - I thought so - but it's ours now!
when whe have a third, dd1 will be in a booster with the shoulder belt ( in that now) and dd2 in the second stage and then the rearfacing car seatfor baby
oh well
assuming we have the 3rd!

hana · 09/02/2006 22:59

well am pregant so by e bye car]
dh will be gutted

GDG · 10/02/2006 13:58

God, this doesn't help me AT ALL!!

I want/need a 7 seater. Ideally I want to be able to fit 3 car seats across the second row (not the two extra ones).

I like 'toys' if I can get them (now, now - car toys!!)

Want to spend around £15K.

HEEEEEELP! This thread goes all backwards adn forwards and I just don't know. From what I can gather I should be looking at

Touran (like the sound of DVD player but it's a bit boxy!)
Scenic (not keen on Renault)
Verso (claustrophobic??)
Galaxy (hmm, rather large but good for space - had good experience with ford cars)

Someone please help me!

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 10/02/2006 14:00

go get a Verso - they're so not claustrophobic

Enid · 10/02/2006 14:01

out of those I would get a Touran

dh likes them too (well as much as someone who hates MPVs can like an MPV)

hana - funny! Unfortuntely dh has pressed ahead with his BMW estate but I suppose we wont be going in it that much so it doesnt matter if its a terrible squeeze.

Now to find my multipla...

hana · 10/02/2006 14:06

dh loves the look of the multipla, I could prob be talked into it, but they are 5 seaters aren't they?
gdc - the renault is a bit gimmicky - they have a keyless ignition and just use a card. WE test drove one and didn't like it at all

Enid · 10/02/2006 14:07

no! they are 6 seaters. Fab to drive too.

LIZS · 10/02/2006 14:08

Honda do a 6 seater FRV , I think.

misdee · 10/02/2006 14:11

i'll be looking at 7seaters if dd2 qualifies for mobility. i like the look of the mazda5, zafira seems ok, but load son the rds, i like the little gadgets in peters tino, so am tempted to see what nissan offer on the mobility scheme.

GDG · 12/02/2006 23:16

Am swayed toward Touran after looking at it today. Now trying to find teh best price for teh sport version - want a black one. Not fussy me!
