My dd loves books, her grandmother very kindly bought her lots of books from redhouse and had them sent straight to us. Unfortunately she didnt check with me to see if dd already had any of the ones she was ordering and half of them are duplicates of ones she already has. Any one have any ideas of what to do with them please ? Grandmother will only get upset if we tell her.

will Redhouse not let you exchange them?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 08/01/2006 12:34

Well don't tell her, can you recycle the new ones as Birthday presents ?

Keep them to use as presents for dd's friends for birthdays. Very useful. And don't tell her grandma.

snap!

Early Learning Centre is holding a Book Amnesty until the end of Jan, where if you take in childrens' books they will distribute them to children who need them. You then get 50% off up to 5 new books in ELC.

I know this would mean expending more cash, but it's a nice idea I think - encourages lots more reading!

Umm, hadnt thought about exchanging them, will look at their site, and certainly some of them might do as presents for dds friends, Thankyou.I wouldnt dream of telling grandma, we did that with one of ds1 presents one year, never again

Thanks chonky, these are books for a 11 year old,and unfortunately I won't be able to get to an ELC before the end of January, Great idea though.

Gah, meant the ELC thing is a good idea not mine to take them there . Had a moment of sounding horribly smug

Red House are not one of the Book club type ones that send you reommended titles every month if you don't tick a box so they probably will exchange.
