Have just seen a really sweet bed for Dd in the MFI sale and wondered has anyone got anything simialr and are they any good. She didn't seem too excited with the slide in the shop today and was more interested in playing going to bed under the covers but do kids use this sort of thing or are they just there for show.

DS1 has had a similar one since he was 2.5 ish. The slide was certainly popular amongst visiting children but it is very fast and also needs a fair bit of clearance at the end so it's not ideal for a small bedroom. Even the angled ones like the one in your link will need space at the end which you should bear in mind when measuring up.

DD2 has this bed and we can't put the slide on in her room as it doesn't fit. So make sure you have enough clearance before you buy.

have the bed but not the slide but I wouldn't go near MFI with a barge pole again and wouldn't reccommend them to anyone - the customer "service" was appalling

I wouldn't get 1 from MFI, we order 1 like that for DD (but not the slide as no room for it). We paid in full when we ordered and arranged for it to be delivered 2 weeks later. they only brought the main part of the bed and not the slats the mattress goes on! So 1 upset DD. Phoned them up and they said it would be another 2 weeks before they could get them to us, so arranged the time again. they didn't turn up again but did have a phone call to say it would be another 2 weeks needed!! DH was not happy (nor was I having to stay in for whole days each time), Phoned them and asked where they were, got told on a van! This van was about a 2 hour drive from ours how could that take 2 weeks! I asked them to send it by special couior to arrive 1st thing in the morning as we had already waited 6 weeks with a broken hearted little girl, still told we had to wait. So next morning it went back to shop made a big fuss in the shop got refund then told them I wanted my delivery money back as well, didn't go until I got it. Also said very loudly that we would never by anything from them again. We then drove to our nearest Focus diy shop and got a metal one with tent for £40. Put it up same night for her to sleep in and has been very happy with it.

Sorry it's very long.

Thanks for that. I've been looking else where now for something similar but no-one seems to have one with everthing that I want (really would need the angled slide as her room isn't that big in this house, although hopefully she will have a huge room when we get around to moving).
Thankfully I don't need it delivered anytime soon and shes still too little to miss it.
Why can stores not have the facilty for you to have them deliverd to the store for you to collect I hate having to wait in for things so might have to think about this a bit longer. Although we had the same problem ordering furniture from Index and I rembering spending a month sleeping on two mattresses on the floor when I was younger.

IS this is no good then

Tommy · 07/01/2006 23:24

we bought and paid for ours on 6th July - finally got all the parts on 31st October (we were told 3-4 weeks)It was all very annoying and extremely frustrating - would never go there again

CatBert · 07/01/2006 23:33

"Yeah", said my DH. "A slide on a bed for DD" (when we had a discussion about how cool or not it would be) - "Yeah - what's the worst that could happen...Night Mummy, Night Daddy... silence for 10 mins then Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee! thump thump thump thump Wheeeeeeeee! thump thump thump thump! Wheeeeeeeee! Ad nuaseum for about a week, when it would no long be used and then just get in the way"

I disagreed. He won. Ah well!

Had a similar experience to Tommy with MFI but with a bathroom suite. We waited so long that we just cancelled teh order in the end and got a refund.

That was the other one i saw SM but the slide goes staight and would proably drop her into a bookcase, its a pity as its cheaper to.
