Baby Monitor

Hi,

DC4 is due in a matter of weeks so we have moved DC2 and DC3 onto the top floor of our house - relatively narrow house, they are now on 2nd floor and kitchen/sitting room is stuck on the back of the house. DC2 is 22 months and I would prefer to keep a baby monitor on in his bedroom when we are downstairs in the kitchen/sitting room in the evening for another year or so, it is ok when we go to bed as our room is on the 1st floor. Our existing BT monitor won't work in the kitchen we have to leave it in the hall (at the bottom of the stairs) and turn the volume up and leave the kitchen door open.

Anyone had a monitor that worked well down two flights of stairs and through a couple of doors?

Thanks in advance.

Our Angelcare works down 2 storeys and a tennis court away (for when I put the bins out, not because I leave DS sleeping to play tennis).

Yes our Angel care works in my parents palatial place (2 floors up with us anywhere on the ground floor with lots of doors).

I am amazed and pleased you both mentioned the same one : ) Is that the Angel care one you see in shops with the pale green on it that comes with a sensor pad? I am assuming that for an older child you can not use the sensor mat? Just given DS is nearly 2 and moves all round the cot all night, a movement sensor would always be going off.

Yes it is that one and yes, you can switch off the sensor pad - really it is for the first 6 month risk of SIDS. I'm not sure if they do a cheaper version without the pad but with the same strength though. I bought one recently for DS2 who is still to arrive so I'm not sure how to turn it off but DH assures me we can. I know it works at my parents house since my nephew has one... We bought ours from Amazon as that was the cheapest place at the time (about 1 month ago).
