Best rechargeable batteries

Advice please
Need some information so Xmas isn't ruined by flat battery misery.
Are there any recommendations for recharge batteries (for remote control toys etc) or is it better to buy boxes of regular Duracell type ?

Some toys with high power drain requirements won't get enough power from rechargeables. Other than that, stick to well known brands and you should be OK. Regular Duracell type batteries can cost an arm and a leg, if you get through a lot of them.
