What do I want?

I want something to read books on but with the ability to surf t'internet and more importantly to install MSN messenger on.

Bumpy bump!

Budget? Portabilty?

Ideally under £300, I'd like it to be portable as I'm a nanny so something to take when the kiddies are in bed. Also with a protective screen because I'm the most clumsy person....maybe I should stick with books LOL!

I don't think much of the Kindle's internet abilities - the Ipad is more than £300 but there are some cheap tablets which are less than that, and you should be able to get a case which fits and will give it some protection. Otherwise you could use a smartphone. There are Kindle apps available free for download from Amazon which would enable you to read ebooks on these gadgets. My local libraries all offer epub ebooks for loan including ones I'd quite like to read, but they don't work on Kindle - they should on a tablet or a phone - and you can download appropriate software to read them.
