MNetter in hospital needs kindle help please

Hello,

One of the MNetters is stuck on bedrest in hospital. She has kindle on her phone, but no internet signal.

Does anyone know if kindle books can be downloaded to a computer, put on a memory card, and then read on a phone please?

Or any other ideas on how to get round it?

Thanks very much :)

Kindle with 3G and WiFi?

I would suggest that someone orders books using her amazon account and select the phone as the device to deliver to.

Then can someone take the phone to somewhere with an Internet signal. The books should then download to the phone when you connect to amazon.

You need to have the kindle app installed on the phone too.

Pure speculation, but I'm guessing this should work.

If her phone isn't working I'm not sure a 3G kindle would fare much better :(

I'll suggest that about setting to download to the phone. She already has the kindle app.

Thanks!

I use amazon on my pc to order the books because i find it easier to browse the store that way. It then asks where you want to send them. Mine is set to download to my phone, however it doesn't need to do it straightaway. They just stay in the ordered section until you connect through the kindle app.

I'm assuming that if someone makes the order somewhere else, but using the account that she's previously set up to download to that phone, it should just need someone to temporarily take the phone out of the hospital to somewhere with a signal, open the kindle app and the books should download to the phone for her to read offline.

That makes a bit more sense now. Smile Hope this actually works. Best wishes to MNer and hope she's better soon. Can't think of anything worse than being trapped in hospital with nothing to distract yourself with.

Thanks Virgo - I've just C&Ped your last post to help her work it out.

I think that should work as her phone is sometimes connecting, but not always. So I think she couldn't browse and buy, but she'll probably be able to get enough connection to download.

Thanks again :)
