Is it me or is the new Next S/S 2006 girls bedding range really dodgy ?

I'm planning to give DD's room a mini revamp, just new curtains and new bedding, and looked at Next's new range as last years had quite a lot to choose from. This year they seem to be awful. I like the lilac butterfly range that was also around last year, but the sequins on the duvet cover put me off - DD would either get scratched by them or would pull them off, or both.

The stuff with animals on it, (a horse range, a kitten range and a puppy range) are all revoltingly tacky.

The stuff with shoes etc on it is too grown up and the other ranges are too twee.

I liked the ballerina stuff until I saw it was bunnies.

M&S do a lovely ballerina duvet set but it doesn't have matching curtains (which is what I want). Arghhhhhhhhhhh.

The patchwork hearts one is OK (Though I can't see any hearts on it but the pic is small). Otherwise just the lilac butterfly one at the beginning.

I find next girls stuff too pink and sappy - clothes the same.

The clothes are a 'mare for DD as she is a red-head and the majority of Next's in-store lines for her age group are very pale sugary pink which looks awful with her hair. She suits plums, turquoise, khaki, even burnt orange, but pink is really not her.

So do you do Boden for dd then? THe funky colours would suit her I bet.

I have to say I'me not very impressed with the adult bedding either... we've just painted out bedroom a soft lilac colour.. and there seems to be little bedding in this colour.. Its obviously OUT.... whats the chances of hubby painting it cream.... [sigh]

Vertbaudet, generally. I find Boden have a penchant for putting hot pink with turquoise, and big patterns, which I'm not a fan of. Plus, if spend half of what I would at Boden, I'm not too bothered if her clothes get paint/play doh/glitter glue on them at nursery

True - I'm finding myself getting annoyed with grease stains on the boys' boden tops that I can't get out (just from butter on toast etc). I want to pass these tops down!!!

rummum, I painted mine chocolate (with 3 rich, creamy walls) yesterday. Having looked at the adult bedding in Next, I'm quite pleased I did !

Yeah, grease is a killer, GDG. I bought a fabbo red Billabong l/s top recently and got DD's greasy toast prints on it on the first wear - arghhhhhhhhhh !

Not found a way of getting it out then?

NomDePlume · 02/01/2006 12:27

not as yet. I just whack a double of dose of oxi action in the wash and hope for the best !

THe only thing I really buy for the boys from there is jeans - they are plain and quite cheap. Don't buy tops though - MIL always does because I think she remembers how I used to buy my work clothes from there years ago when Next was still quite new and thought of as a bit 'posh' . She bought ds2 a t-shirt with 'I'm in charge' listed about 5 times on it - shudder.

rofl, GDG you snob

Socci, I do like their curtain selection, the prices are good too.

Totally agree about the Next range of "children's" bedding. Think the puppy/cat ones are scary and the ballerina/fairy one has sequins and beads all over it. Not very child friendly at all, esp for a 2 year old who likes nothing better than to pick, pull and chew at anything she can get her hands on! Having said all thet the hearts and flowers range is quite nice.
