Box Room Quandary

We have just built a lovely cabin bed in my son's bedroom which is a box room. The downside is that the bed is too close to the radiator and I just didn't realise how hot the bed would get. I have turned off the radiator for the moment until we find a solution.

I am considering a fire resistant fabric radiator cover but wondered if it is ok to use with the end of the bed right up against it. Also will the radiator still give off enough heat with a cover on it without burning the bed!?

I would appreciate any advice as it's really difficult to make the best of so little space!

Does the radiator have a thermostat valve thing on it? You can turn ours right down to a defrost-type setting so they just get lukewarm. Would probably be enough to heat a tiny room?
