Time for a change. My current phone is probably out of the ark. I can get a new phone through dh's company scheme that seems to be an excellent deal. But what should I choose?

Suggestions please!

i have this one and I love it
but what do you want from it?

Twiglett · 29/12/2005 20:11

we have to be cool

ladymuck · 29/12/2005 20:11

Well with my current one I just do calls and text, so I'm looking to possibly broaden my horizons a little - what do people do with them these days (that is people with young children, who presumably don't have quite as much free time as teenagers/happyslappers or whatever)? I have a small digital camera/recorder that fits in a handbag, so camera not essential but might be nice to have.

Twig, most definitely not. But as I tend to own my mobiles for about 5 years at a time I feel that I ought to at least start out with something decent (or at least modern!).

I've just bought dp a motorola v3 razr for his b'day - it's sitting in the wardrobe and I'm sooo tempted to steal it!!

I'd say nokia are best for ease of use though....

Twiglett · 29/12/2005 20:17

I have a nokia .. I can make phone calls and text ..anything else is OTT in my view

but I'm definitely not cool

spruceylucy5 · 29/12/2005 20:18

ladymuck · 29/12/2005 20:18

Mum2OneAndBump · 29/12/2005 20:21

tillykins · 29/12/2005 20:24

samsungs are fab - much better than nokias IMHO

spursmum · 29/12/2005 20:25

I've got a Motorola V980 and it has the works!!! I can video call, record video and send it, take pictures, download full music tracks plus the usual voice calls and texts!!! And it cost me just £80!!!

harktheheraldAIMSMUMsings · 29/12/2005 20:25

I've got the Nokia N70 too. I love it!

hunkermunker · 29/12/2005 20:25

I always had Nokia, then I won a Samsung 720i (I think it's called that - it's a 720!) - I LOVE my Samsung. Helps that I won it, mind you - would never have bought one like this.

Mum2OneAndBump · 29/12/2005 20:27

I prefer the Samsungs myself i have also had Nokias but have never looked back since buying Samsungs. The D500 is a slide phone & has everything on it, it did cost £150 but well worth every penny & has a very good colour graphocs for recording videos & taking pics etc.

ladymuck · 29/12/2005 20:31

Well the Samsungs on the list are D500, D600, E720, E350, E530, I300 and Z500.

Dh thought that the Motorola V3 would be popular?

fairydust · 29/12/2005 21:05

I got a motorola v3 from santa in black and it's vwey swiss - dh got a Samsung E720 and that's does everything you can imagine

moondog · 29/12/2005 21:05

Serious question now.....
why do people need to change a phone???????

sansouci · 29/12/2005 21:07

After years of Nokia, I bought a Sony Ericson because it has (probably "had" by now) the highest definition camera. Bluetooth & all that stuff doesn't mean a thing to me. As for being cool, I could care less.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 29/12/2005 21:07

i have a motorola v3 razr. takes fab piccies to send to peter. he has a samsung d600.

sansouci · 29/12/2005 21:08

couldn't care less!

ladymuck · 29/12/2005 21:09

a) When their child dips it in apple juice.
b) when child drops it down grating
c) when they feel silly carrying the battery pack around
d) when their phone manufacturer refuses to make replacement battery packs etc.
e) when they get offered a freebie by work

Have had 4 Samsungs (out of 5 phones) and loved them all. Never thought I'd use the camera part but it is good fun for sending quick snaps to people like of the DSs in the snow at Christmas etc.

hunkermunker · 29/12/2005 21:36

Ah, E720, that's the blighter!

MD, I've had a mobile phone since 1997 and have had four phones in that time. Two were on a contract (first one was a housebrick), one was second-hand and I won the fourth. The second contract one I only changed because the battery life was ridiculously short (needed charging halfway through the day, whether I'd used it or not). And the second-hand phone would only charge if I stood it on its end and used a broken charger.

So that's why
