ie the type that doesn't damage your walls? Who makes them?

This Babydan one is brilliant safety-wise although it does fix to the wall...

franch · 29/12/2005 10:57

Is the M/care one not so good safety wise?

hiya Franch. Just popped in briefly. Did you sell? Are you moving? When you coming to visit us?

(sorry for hijack)

I think wall mounted are safer than pressure fit - the pressure fit ones always seem vulnerable to tipping when they're open.

Thanks. Marsy: Yes, yes and I'm working on it! Will email!

Some of the Mothercare ones are made by Baby Dan(as are Ikea).

Whoopee! Be good to see you all

The Mothercare one was fine for on DS's bedroom door, but for the top of the stairs there's a couple of concerns I would have: it has a bar across the bottom that you/children could trip over when about to go down the stairs, and I wouldn't trust a pressure fit one at such a potentially dangerous place - they can be unreliable.

We've got one at another point on the landing upstairs rather than directly at the top of the stairs. I've read about a safety report somewhere that's been done on safety gates recently, and apparently most of them failed . It said the standards they have to adhere to aren't high enough
