Gro clock or Onaroo?

I'm looking at getting a clock for my daughter so she knows when its ok to get up. At the moment "its dark outside still" is working but obviously that won't last into next year...!!!

I'm also curious as to what age they tell the time? THe gro clock doesn't have a proper clock on it but then I can still have a proper clock on the wall.

Has anyone tried both of these and have a favourite - or either of these and have an opinion?

I'm not 100% sure where to put it either, next to her bed is a book box so don't currently have a bedside table as such...!!

We have the GroClock and we love it. We got it when DD was nearly 2, about 22 months I think. I thought DH was a loon for buying it, thought she;d be too young to understand it but it has worked really well. We use it for day time and night time sleeps. My 16 month old even seems to understand it a little now, she gets excited when her older sister shouts that it is yellow (time to get up).

Ours is up on top of her wardrobe, out of reach of the 1 year old who can't be trusted yet with things like that. I can reach it to set it at sleep time and they can see the blue light with the star or the yellow light with the sun.

I can't recommend it enough.

Thanks SeamStitch - I think we will get it. I was begining to think I was the only one in the world (Well mumsnet) that was thinking about sleep/training clocks!

I do love the GroClock, DS has taken to the idea really.

Maybe it's just me but it's a bugger to work out how to set it. and the book that comes with it is pretty lame.

I must confess that DH set it, I have no idea how to do it. But now its set to the times we want I can use it with no problems. If ever I need to change the time, well... DH better be around!

I have not checked in in a while but when i saw this trail i thought i add my experience which we had with a BabyZoo sleep trainer. We got the monkey a couple of months ago and it has done magic for us. Our 3 year-old son used to wake us up at the crack of dawn, but now actually sleeps in. We must have tried everything to get him back to bed, but he always had a reply: but the birds are awake, but it's light outside, etc. He now waits until his monkey opens its eyes and then he comes out. I can honestly recommend this product. And to set it, is as simple as ABC. The setting is like any normal alarm clock and the eyes you close with 1 button.
