Best 'clothes' doll for DD (5yo)?

DD1 (5yo) is just getting into dolls. She has had a couple as presents but I've never bought one before.

I'd like one that looks like a little girl, although DD says she likes baby dolls too. I'm not keen on Barbie or teenagerish fashion dolls, nor the walking-talking-dummies-and-bottles baby dolls, so what else is there?

I have vague ideas about making dolls clothes too - is there a size of doll that's easy to make clothes for?

Not decided on a budget - probably not £££ but would like something sturdy as DS (3yo) and DD2 (1yo) are likely to play with it too.

What have your DCs loved?

Hi, I feel the same - looking for a "natural" doll that can be dressed up. Hey, nobody out there?

Anyways, I will let you know how I am getting on with my "research", promise!

Right you need a 45-50 cm doll.

My dd has the Gotz Hannah one which she got aged 5 and now nearly 7 still adores and wants more clothes for.Hannah is pricey but fab quality and was a joint bday and Xmas present.

Look on Bambolina(fab service and site) they have loads of little girl dolls(all sizes and ranges).Gotz also do a smaller doll on there called Just Like Me for £20 ish I think but cheaper clothes will be harder to find.

You can get cheaper clothes on other sites like My Doll Boutique for 45-50cm dolls as that is a more standard size.

Argos are doing their own version of American Girl,v pretty but she is soft bodied so won't look as pretty in swim suits etc. She is half the price though but maybe you wouldn't care so much if she got trashed.

Corolle do beautiful fashion dolls called Les Cheries(they have a girl's body). We have 2 of these but maybe age 6 would be better.Bambolina sells these too.

Can't vouch for hair quality on the Argos one.The beauty of Gotz dolls is when you brush the hair it reverts to mint condition and never frizzes.Ours take a lot of abuse(dd's entire slide & bobble collection) but when you brush the hair out it's almost perfect.
