Iircyou need to depress it again, or try doing it v. swiftly all the way down. I seem to remember mine being quite awkard and took some time to master.

HTH

Yes, you need to push it in again (in towards the seat IYSWIM) to get it right down or back up. I found it tricky at first, you need to get the knack. I used to push with the palm of my hand whilst holding the rim of the seat with my fingers (i.e. squeeze them together, hope that makes sense).

Roobietherednosedreindeer · 21/12/2005 23:10

You have to depress the handle to get it to each of its 3 positions. If you actually look st the round mechanism on the side you will see the notch thing that has to be released to enable the handle to move - should help you to understand what you are trying to do.

LIZS · 22/12/2005 14:19

Push down either in centre of handle or with a hand either side. Each press releases it enough so you can push back or forward to next position.

It is a PITA but you get used to it. I whack mine with the palm of my hand to get it started off . Poor dd.

Tinker · 22/12/2005 16:38

It is a PITA. Especially trying to get it out of the car. Have resorted to carrying the whole thing out with the baby in like some precious princess.

LIZS · 22/12/2005 16:42

Never foudn it so bad [puzzled emoticon]. To take out of car I undid the belt, turned seat so baby faced towards me/open door and then did the handle. You really can do it all in one movement if you press down firmly enoguh and for long enough, just takes a bit of practice.

We3kingsofOrinocoare · 22/12/2005 21:34

Mine got worse as it got older. Sorry.

Everyone is right, you just press the handle with your entire body weight but it only works at certain points.

Borrowed one from a friend, had exactly problem had to phone her at work to ask how to do it!

Furball · 26/12/2005 11:31

If you ring Britax saying you've lost your instructions, they'll probably pop a copy in the post for you. They did when we needed to sell our car seat and we didn't have any anyway.
