"All I want for Xmas is a dinosaur scarf"

So says DS. When I expressed doubt as to availability, he said, "Just write it in the letter to Father Xmas." Any ideas - mail order not really an option at this stage!

next usually have dinosaurs on everything (or monkeys, I think they alternate it)

jinglinggoblin · 21/12/2005 16:37

sew on a dinosaur patch? fabric paints?

springerspaniel · 21/12/2005 16:41

I could be wrong but maybe Monsoon/Accesorise. Definitely crocodile scarfs.

collision · 21/12/2005 16:42

GAP did lots of things with dinosaurs.

DS would love one too!

collision · 21/12/2005 16:50

Just checked the Monsoon website and they have a dragon scarf!

Would that be any good? It is £15.

florenceuk · 21/12/2005 16:52

Thanks Collision - I will see if I can get it in my local Accessorize! Dragon one would probably go perfectly with the foam swords I have bought as well (DD has a mini one to defend herself).

The Natural History Museum shop has dinosaurs on everything - though I'm not sure if I've seen a scarf. But you could give them a call?

collision · 21/12/2005 18:54

Glad to be of help!!

We are going to the NH Museum in January....ds will prob want to buy everything if there are dinos on it!

thecattleareALOHing · 21/12/2005 18:55

My ds wanted Noah's ark animals for christmas as extras for his Noah's Ark. I inventively tracked down two bags of little animals - farm and jungle - and felt v please. Today he is wittering to my friend, 'Father Christmas is going to bring me Noah's Ark animals! Ones I haven't got, like a shark and a cat and a wolf.."

Oh f888!

Tesco have been doing dino fleeces and Gap often do things like this too.

NotQuiteCockney · 21/12/2005 22:11

They do get some funny ideas. Last year, he decided he wanted a "hairy jumping spider".

Luckily, I had bought a hairy jumping spider, from Hawkins.

florenceuk · 22/12/2005 21:21

Well, the end of the story - DH went to Monsoon in his lunchtime and bought a crocodile scarf as IHO they were nicer. Actually it is cute, hope DS finds it acceptable!

Mine has been asking Father Christmas for 'just a roll of stippy (sic) tape, please'.

The Santas have all been barely able to conceal their sniggers.

I have wrapped up a roll of sticky tape, and now fear for the state of the house. Everything will be wrapped in it.

HaveYourselfaMerryMrsBadger · 22/12/2005 22:13

I've developed a yen for playdough... for myself. Hope DH takes the hint...

ISawFrannyandZooeyKissingSanta · 22/12/2005 22:22

If all else fails I was going to suggest appliqueing a felt dino shape onto an ordinary scarf - would be v easy...

ThereWASaGiraffeInTheNativity · 22/12/2005 22:23

Can i try and knit a dinosaur scarf for him if he doesn't find the croc acceptable?

florenceuk · 23/12/2005 10:05

Giraffe, I would love you to knit a dinosaur scarf - just to see what it looked like! I am a crap knitter, I only knit when pregnant and then never finish them.

Normally I would be up to searching out dinosaur fleece and shapes etc but at this time of year I just don't have the time or energy. However after a bit of softening up (and detailed interrogations as to exactly what Santa may or may not have said about stock availability) I think we may get away with it.

How old is he?
CAT me your address and i will knit one for him if you like - any colour preferences?

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 23/12/2005 11:26

Giraffe.... do you remember LadyTophamHats stickytape wrapped table and chairs.... snigger.

ThereWASaGiraffeInTheNativity · 23/12/2005 11:30

that will be my house after Sunday.

ThereWASaGiraffeInTheNativity · 23/12/2005 11:30

Dp wanted to give her duct tape but i thought less damage could be done with ordinary stuff.
