foetal dopplers

I know they aren't always advised but I spent the last pregnancy rushing to the hospital for a 'heartbeat check' as I was panicking I couldn't feel the baby move. So I'm guessing renting a doppler this time might not be a bad idea? Is there a preferred make? And CAN you rent them? Does it work out cheaper to buy?

get one definatley - but be really strict about not getting obsessive about using it! Do it once a week unless you have worries, then use it asap! I bought one on here actually and it was amazing. Look on ebay maybe? I paid £60 and it was in great nick.

I know I will use it obsessively.... I can't race to the hopsital now lol and the doctors is actually a little out of reach! I will try and behave myself

I have one too. Bought it on ebay, the brand is Hi-bebe. It works well and am really glad I have one. Whenever I am a bit worried i.e not much movement that day I use it, it really does stop me obsessing.

I'm worried I've already m/c... but then I'm a natural worrier. If the scan can put my mind at rest, I'll definately be investing in one.

I think the one you are looking at can pick up the heartbeat but it wont tell you what rate the heart is beating at. A fetus heart will beat between 130-170 beats per minute. It can be quite difficult to distinguish between other sounds you pick up such as your own pulse rate, sounds of the placenta etc without the heart rate display. I would go for a more expensive on because then you can be certain what you are hearing is the babies HB

the one you were looking at I had it and it really didn't work I used to spend hours trying to pick up DD1's heart and never had any joy could hear my tummy growling mind lol

luna agree with DHW about buying one [it was mine that she bought]. It provided great relief to me as I had 3 mcs so to be able to check on baby whenever I got a bit panicky was fantastic. Mine cost me £83 and as DHW says I sld it on for £60 was in excellent condition and worked out cheaper than renting which I think is around £15 a month

I've bid on one which is the same as the £65 buy it now ones.

I've only bid up to £30 as p&p is £10.

Agree about the cheaper one though.
