Cupboard / desk to hide PC in when not in use

OK, "PC not in use" is a rare scenario in this house, however, has anyone got one of these?

If so, what sort, where from?

no hate things like that

You'll end up just leaving it out permanently anyway

we do have the tower in an Ikea storage thing to protect it and also so that we can use the top to put the printer in

the monitor is an expensive flat screen Sony so is out on display

IOTAnnenbaum · 21/12/2005 13:45

we have a room

LucycatsGotTheTurkey · 21/12/2005 13:45

We've got one of these from Argos

ok you can still see the screen, but it's a flat screen, and we thought a taller unit would look like a wardrobe in the corner of the dining room!!

HaveYourselfAKnottyLittleXmas · 21/12/2005 14:20

It's not that I hate having the PC on display, it's all the crap that goes with it. Files, cd-roms, disks, etc. It's in our living room now as we are open plan and it really starting to bug me.

We have a similar problem making the spare room look like a Proper Bedroom for the in-laws.

I wanted one of those semi-circular curtain rails but DH said it'd look like we had a shop changing room in the corner (guess a folding screen or something would have been more subtle).
We couldn't afford a workstation with doors, and had a perfectly good desk already.
In the end we got bookcases the same height as the desk and just made the stuff look neat in boxes, magazine files etc.
As the shelves didn't run up the wall we could hang pictures etc above and maintain the illusion that it's still a Proper Room and not an actual office.

charlietherednosedpussy · 21/12/2005 15:21

we had one of these that everything fitted in nicely

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 21/12/2005 15:46

I quite like the Ikea work stations.

GingerBearingGifts · 21/12/2005 15:48

Hulababy has a nice hid-y thing not sure where hers was from.

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 21/12/2005 15:48

really like this one but it only accommodates flat screen monitors

HaveYourselfAKnottyLittleXmas · 21/12/2005 22:32

Yes thanks those are the kind of thing, although I suppose I could just try to make the area bit neater with boxes etc!

I got a nice one from a company in Norfolk. Used it a LOT. I now have my own office and the cupboard stores toys.

Hulababy · 21/12/2005 22:36

I have a computer desk that closes up made by teemo.

HaveYourselfAKnottyLittleXmas · 21/12/2005 22:37

Can you remember the name of the company Aloha?

I am going up there for Christmas & could go & check out whether they still do it?

I have this one here. Think we paid about £200 maybe less in the sale for it in Beech.

Hulababy · 21/12/2005 22:39

Got it from a "modern" furniture near where we lived, when at the apartment in Sheffield.

thecattleareALOHing · 21/12/2005 22:43

this one only in a painted cream finish.

HaveYourselfAKnottyLittleXmas · 21/12/2005 22:47
